Q. It’s your pain that is causing you to be depressed? How can we help?

A. Chronic pain and illness can be depressing and depression often make pain worse We know that pain, depression, addiction and PTSD often occur together. We know that these experiences alter brain waves and biochemistry. We work with you to provide alternatives that you may not have had the opportunity to try.

Q. Can you go off your medication?

A. Our role is to educate you and provide you with options to improve your health according to your goals. We will take a comprehensive history including medications, and work with you (and your physician if you request) to decide what role medication might play. Many people come to us because their medications are not working for them or they have intolerable side effects. Many of our clients go off medication and many others reduce it and many never need to begin using it. We treat everyone as a unique individual.

Q. How is digestion related to your mood?

A. Neurotransmiters, the brain chemicals that affect one’s mood are made in the gut more than the brain. As digestion improves, so does mood and sense of well- being.
