Q. Have you had some upsetting experiences with therapists before and you are not sure you trust them?
-
A.
The word therapy is from the word therapeuticos meaning "to serve" Our role is to serve you. Unfortunately upwards of 10-20% of health professionals and clergy abuse or cross boundaries with their clients causing distress and trauma. We are skilled at responding to your specific concerns, have treated people who have had traumatic experiences and are respectful of your need to be in control of your own health. Your wishes are respected and your comfort zone is regulated by your expression of your needs. -
Q. I am a member of an ethnic minority and I have oftentimes felt mis-understood or dis-respected by health professionals, what will my experience be with you?
-
A.
Our clinical team is trained in minority health issues and many of us have lived in diverse cultures. We welcome and honor your specific needs related to ethnicity, heritage and identity. We believe that identity and culture play a significant role in both stress and healing, as well as positive choices that make sense for you and your family. -
